Health Board Okay Required Sewer System Development The Lowndes County Health Department has been notified by Federal Housing Authority that approval of the department must obtained for the development of any building site in the county in which an individual sewerage system is planned.

The purpose of this requirement on" site approval, is. to provide proper notification tone health department by owner or contractor so adequtae review of the site can be had before expenditures have been made on unsuitable lots. Wadley, 85, a member of a pioneer Valdosta family died this morning at the home of her sister, Miss Minnie Lane, 708 Oak street. Besides the sister, she is survived by a brother, Remer Y. Prior to her marriage to the late John E. Wadley, she was Miss Henrietta Lane. She was born and raised in Valdosta, but after her marriage spent the greater part of her life elsewhere. After the death of Mr. Wadley in 1939, she made her home with her sister here.

She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. Prior to the final illness she was active in church affairs. Jennie Webb, Aunt, Dies Near Hahira HAHIRA Mrs. Jennte Webb, 83, died at her home near Hahira late last night after a sudden attack. She was born and reared one mile east of Hahira and lived in the Shiloh section for the past 50 years. Mrs. Weble was, before her marriage, Jennie Jones.

Her husband was the late Eli Webb, known as Big Ell. She raised all her family in the Shiloh section where they were prominent in agriculture circles, Mrs. Webb is survived by five daughters, Mrs. James Hall, Mrs. Pruella Childress, Mrs.

'L. L. Fields, Mrs. J. Wood, of Hahira; and Mrs.

Pittman, Quitman, Dies In Accident QUITMAN-W. H. Pittman, 79, was killed instantly here Wednesday witen he was struck by a truck near his home on the Valdosta highway. Mr. Pittman, who was returning from town on his motor bike and traveling east, made a turn into his driveway.

As he made the turn a truck, driven by J. A. Parramore of Coolidge, hit him. Sheriff R. W.

Jones and state patrolmen investigated the accident and absolved the truok driver of blame. Mr. Pittman and his wife had lived here for the past four years, moving here from Pavo. He was a member of the Methodist and he and Mrs. Pittman celebrated their golden wedding anniversary two months ago.

He is survived by his wife and two sons and two daughters: Mrs. Herschel Vandiver of Quitman, Mrs. W. H. Hubbard of Cordele, Robert Pittman of Coolidge and Charnye Pittman of Boston.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete pending the arrival of relatives. The Lions Club is sponsor. Tickets are on sale at State College or they may be purchased from any Lions Club member. Prices have been set. at $1 for adults and 50 cents for children. The group of students and teachers who perform the show are on leave from Austrian universities and schools to present a musical show of gay Austrian melodies, folk dances and yodeling.

The show revolves around the plot of an inn-keeper in a small Alpine village and his attempt to woo his new young waltress. The plot is complicated only by the intrusion of the Austrian counterpart of the American traveling salesman--in this case a roving cattle dealer. Several beautiful young tourists from Vienna add a sophisticated Viennse touch to the rustic scene. The show has been designed by Dr. Susanne Polsterer, a brilliant Viennese actress and young scholar, who is the group leader, mistress of ceremonies and leading lady all in one.

SERIAL Hahira Girl Wins County Spelling Bee Sandra Fiveash, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elma Five ash of Hahira, was deciared tne winner of the county spelting bee held today in 1 Strickland Memorial Building. PSC Approves Greyhound Bus Fare Increase (P)- The Georgia Public Service Commission today authorized the three Greyhound operating in Georgia to inlines crease their fares from two cents 2.25 cents a mile. The commission last year twice refused to allow the increase for the Dixie Greyhound Lines, Southeastern Greyhound Lines and Teche Greyhound Lines, although all other Georgia bus lines were granted an increase. In its order today the commissaid the Greyhound lines did sion not show Justification for but that because of the increase competitive situation it was authorized in order that the other bus lines could put their increased rates into effect. The three Greyhound lines operate in almost every section the state and a number of competing bus companies supported the Greyhound application increase in rates. The coman companies said that peting competitive routes they could in the higher rate which they authorized to charge while put were was limited to two Greyhound cents on the same route.

The increases will be effective April 20. Meantime all Georgia motor freight hauling lines asked Public Service Commission for 10 per cent rate increase. The petition, following hike granted March 10, brought stiff protests from: per cent number of Georgia manufacturers. The freight lines asked for additional boost because, they said. increased operational penses were not reflected in increase.

They said union March employes recently were given raises of 14 to 15 per cent some fringe benefits. One large Savannah manufacturer wired the USC that another increase for the freight would force the company to sider buying its own fleet trucks. The company contended the freight lines were pricing themselves out of business. Former Valdosta Negro To Be Buried in Detroit Carlton W. Gaines, well-known former Valdosta Negro, died Tuesday in Detroit, Mich.
